Tips on Cleaning Make-Up Brushes

Hey lovelies, how often do you clean your make up brushes and what do you use to properly clean them?

I use the white dove beauty bar. This specific one works perfectly well for me.

Do you mind sharing how you do this please? make a soap-water solution and dip or how exactly do you do it?

Hi Zoey, I simply run water over the soap to make it wet then rub the brushes on the soap, lather it and then rinse off. I repeat this severally until the bristles are clean. I then hung them on a clothing hanger to dry.

Aaah… this is brilliant! simple and so affordable. I’ll sure try it out

I am still a believer in using some oil( I personally use coconut oil) to collect the dirt and bacteria from my blending sponges and brushes. After soaking them in oil, I transfer them to warm water with liquid dish washing soap to break down the oil then rinse in warm water followed by cold running water.

I can’t surely be the only one using their face wash for this purpose.  Who else uses face wash coz it works just as fine?

Please tell me its the dawn platinum blue dish washing liquid!  All my friends use that and booyyyyy isn’t it magical?

Please let your friends and yourself know that make up artists and beauticians do not recommend dish washing liquid because it can be too harsh on the bristles. My MUA advised me to use baby shampoo instead, or any other clarifying shampoo since they are gentle on the bristles.

As a make up artist, I use a gentle sulfate-free shampoo, mix it with water in a small container, dip the brush head a few times, then scrub it on a silicone cleansing mat under running water. After rinsing well, I place the brushes on a drying rack. I highly recommend this.

Hahaha I am a lazy beauty lover. I even go 4 months without cleaning but when I do, i use laundry bar soap and warm water.
