Hi moms! How did your skincare routine change while you were pregnant? I’d love to hear about what you used during and after pregnancy! I am way early into my pregnancy and I am just interested in preparing myself psychologically.
I personally used The Ordinary Azelaic Acid for acne and oily spots during my first trimester. After that, my skin became dry for the first time ever leading me to discontinue its use. I also used Native brand’s fragrance-free mineral sunscreen and their moisturizing facial lotion (I have the brown one, but I want to try the vitamin C one for post-acne dark spots, which have been slow to fade since pregnancy). Furthermore, I had a prescription for topical clindamycin gel from my doctor during the first trimester, which I used with the azelaic acid for acne. I really like Native products because they have niacinamide and simple, clean ingredients. I wasn’t impressed with some CeraVe products because they contain parabens. My advise is that you just be cautious with Native if you’re sensitive to aloe or coconut.
I recently just started using La Roche Posay and CeraVe and body is surely loving it. My previous products got discontinued because my dermatologist stated that more than half of them were not safe for me and my baby. Finding a good exfoliant has been a huge struggle but I’m glad I just found one three weeks ago.
Hey Sasha, do you mind sharing which exfoliator that is please? I am in the same exfoliator struggle and could really use some advise.
I use Dermalogica milkfoliant which i got from Sephora. It is a very gentle powder cleanser with AHAs, BHAs, and hyaluronic acid that helps exfoliate, smooth, and calm your skin. As someone with a super sensitive skin, I haven’t had any irritation or reactions from using it.
I began using more Korean skincare products, like toners and masks, in my second trimester when my acne became so stubborn and I was getting so hyperpigmented. I am super proud of how my skin responded, and my skin has never been better. If you like Paula’s Choice, I definitely recommend trying their liquid exfoliant too.
Don’t sweat it moms. As long as it’s not any of those chemical peels or retinoids, it should be okay. However, please consult your dermatologist before using any product.
