My sister denies her natural hair color

My sister is adamant that her hair is blonde, despite it clearly being dark brunette. She doesn’t dye it, but if anyone refers to her hair as anything other than blonde, she gets upset and resorts to shouting and name-calling. Our grandma has angel knick-knacks painted to look like the family, and my sister got angry when hers had dark hair. As kids, she would always get mad if her doll didn’t have blonde hair. She had blonde hair as a toddler, but it darkened by the time she was 4.

Why is she so insistent on something that’s clearly not true? She doesn’t dye it, so it’s not like she’s trying to pass off bleached hair as natural.

Soooo many brunettes claim they are blonde. Idk why it’s just a thing lol

Growing up, I had a friend who always insisted I was blonde, even though I’m clearly a brunette. I always found it so strange—what on earth was she seeing? Lol.

Any shade of brunette, unless you have black hair, is up for grabs, in my opinion, provided someone is sufficiently crazy. Individuals only see what they choose to.

Even though I can see that their hair is now brown, I always think of them as blonde since I can always identify the difference between persons who had blonde hair as children and those who had brown hair from birth. I believe it’s because I’ve always had light brown hair, but my brother had blond hair till puberty, and I was envious. My now-husband said, “We literally have the same hair color,” when I called him blond. I said, “Yeah, but I bet you had white blond hair when you were two,” and he had to acknowledge that he had.

I completely understand. I was a blond kid who turned darker. Even though their adult color will appear to be the same darkness, I, as a hair stylist, can determine who was blonde and who has always been brunette. However, because it lacks as much underlying tone, darker blondes typically have a more ashier tone with less depth. Most hairdressers consider hair color level 7 or lighter to be “blonde,” even when ashier tones also appear darker.

Are there any warning indicators? To be honest, I don’t think I could ever figure it out. My sister, who is now a deep brunette, was out here looking like the milky bar kid. I’m envious of your abilities, but I’d never know!

The light makes it gleam differently. It has varied undertones. Most of the time, I can tell too.

My mom insists to this day my hair is auburn. It is very dark brown that sometimes gets a reddish tint if I’m in the sun enough.

In my situation, it’s simply because having dark hair frequently causes it to be ignored in favor of blonde hair in the media and beauty standards.

Many individuals will cling to the concept of having blonde hair since it may be awful to feel like you don’t measure up to the beauty standard anymore, especially if you had blonde hair as a child and it darkened with age. At least where I live, blonde is still the standard for beauty.

When I first met my spouse, his hair was already gray, so I asked him what color it was before it turned gray. He claimed to be blonde, but by junior high, he had turned to brown, although his identity remains blonde. It’s funny because I’ve never found males with blonde hair attractive. But as a child, he was adorable with it!

How differently we can view ourselves is funny, isn’t it? This brought to mind a buddy of mine who is adamant that he appears to be in his thirties. He doesn’t! Despite his good appearance, he appears to be about 65 years old.

This is what my stepmother does. She believes she looks younger than her younger sister all the time. However, she actually doesn’t. When she was little, she did have a baby face, which she still associates with.

I keep hearing comments that I look 14 (I’m 19), and I know it’s just because of my round baby face, but I have to keep telling myself that it won’t last forever because I don’t want to be one of those people who can’t accept looking their age. My biggest fear is that I’ll develop this delusion.

This is the kind of dude I know. He appears to be in his 50s. However, he is certain that he looks thirty. To the extent that he failed to notice a response from someone who was obviously surprised that he wasn’t older than he claimed. He simply thinks he looks young because he has little body fat. Unfortunately, his face has suffered as a result of his daily cigarette habit of smoking thirty cigarettes. But he doesn’t see it.
