So this is probably not the usual post, but my best friend’s birthday is coming up. He recently came out to me as gay and was worried I wouldn’t support him, but I want to show him that I’ll always have his back, no matter what.
He mentioned the other night that he really wants to start doing makeup but can’t afford it due to other expenses. I want to surprise him by getting him some beginner makeup products for his birthday. What should I get to help him start?
Get him a gift card for Sephora, or if you’re on a budget, Target or Walmart. Walmart has a great selection at lower prices, perfect for beginners or pros! Then, set up a time to go makeup shopping together. He might already have an idea of what he wants, or maybe he’s unsure and could use advice—Sephora’s staff is great for that, even if the gift card is for a different store.
After shopping, you can hang out and try out the new goodies! You don’t have to join in if you’re not into makeup, but you might enjoy experimenting—it’s just for fun! You could even do a mini photo shoot to capture his first look and keep the pictures as memories (or just have a laugh later).
This is how friendship works! He’s lucky to have you, and it’s awesome you’re being so supportive.
A gift card to Ulta, Target, or Walmart would be fantastic since they offer a wide range of affordable products, allowing him to get more for the same cost compared to Sephora. A makeup shopping spree with him sounds like a dream come true! It would be a wonderful gift and a memorable experience for both of you.
Another sweet idea is to pick out some rainbow items together, like affordable rainbow eyeshadow palettes, for him to create Pride makeup looks with you in preparation for next year! He could even draw some hearts or rainbows on you, which would be a cute way for you to be involved and show your support without diving deep into makeup yourself. I love doing Pride looks because they make me feel free and happy, allowing me to express my sexuality in a beautiful and colorful way to the world!
You are such a wonderful and supportive friend! He’s lucky to have you!
