I have a lot of clothes, but I tend to stick to a few pieces that I know I’ll feel comfortable in. This has become a bit of a problem because now I only have two pairs of pants that I feel 100% comfortable in, and I end up wearing them every day for months. Has anyone else struggled with this? How did you overcome it?
My rule is to remove anything from my closet if I haven’t worn it in about six months. This helps me keep a clean closet where I regularly wear and like all the pieces. I pay attention to the fabrics and fits that make me feel good and buy more of those. I also like to get my favorite pieces in multiple colors.
Every 6 months to a year, I make it a point to clean out my closet (I just did this today). I separate the clothes into three piles: donating, selling, or giving away to a family member.
Exactly! I buy similar items in different colors too. I usually clean out my closet once a year or whenever the mood strikes. Clothes I haven’t worn in a year go into a donation bag, which I keep until it’s full, then I either donate them or organize a clothes swap with friends.
Another good tip I’ve heard is to hang your clothes with the hangers facing one way. After you wear something, put the hanger back the opposite way. By the end of the year, you’ll have a clear idea of what you have and haven’t worn.
I’m interested in this as well. I have so many clothes, but I always end up wearing the same few pieces that I feel comfortable in.
I feel the same way. It’s really about what I’m comfortable with and what makes me feel confident.
