Tell me about your “everything shower.”

What products do you use for it?

How often do you have an “everything shower”?

Do you think it’s worth it, or is it just a marketing gimmick?

I don’t do “everything showers” because they are exhausting. Instead, I spread out my hygiene tasks throughout the week: I wash my hair on Wednesdays and Sundays, exfoliate and shave my legs on Saturdays, and use a pumice stone on my feet twice a week as needed, along with shaving my underarms.

This is the way to go

question: Do you exfoliate just your legs, or do you exfoliate your entire body? Thanks in advance!

I exfoliate my whole body. I put on exfoliating mitts, lather up my Dove bar soap on them, and wash my whole body including underarms (except between the legs). I just use my hands for that.

Thank you so much about this :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

You scrub your underarms with a pumice stone?

Oh no, lol. I’ll fix that. I actually meant shaving my underarms.

I use a pumice stone to scrub my whole body because I need a level of exfoliation that scrubs, loofahs, or Korean towels alone can’t provide. For some reason, my skin seems to think self-exfoliation isn’t part of its job description. LOL

I personally enjoy everything showers and do them once a week. I struggle with body image so pampering myself and making myself feel good helps me a lot mentally.

I always do these steps, I use 2 clean washcloths each time and a silicone body scrubber

  1. Cleansing Shampoo and work in with a hair scrubber
  2. Rinse and then shampoo again with a moisturising shampoo
  3. Rinse and apply conditioner to the mids and ends of my hair then put up in a claw clip
  4. Use dove beauty bar all over with a washcloth
  5. Rinse and then exfoliate with body scrub
  6. Rinse and then shave with shaving oil everywhere
  7. Use dove body wash on a silicone body scrubber
  8. Rinse off body and then take my hair out of the claw clip and rinse out all of the conditioner
  9. Lastly I clean the lady bits with a different clean washcloth to make sure any residue from products I’ve used isn’t there and won’t irritate me
  10. Step out of shower and put my hair in a hair towel
  11. Pat dry my body with a towel and then apply lotion to slightly damp skin and apply perfume to all of the pulse points
  12. Use hair cream and oil and blow dry my hair straight

My advice is to wash your body and face after rinsing out your hair products and putting your hair back in a clip. Some hair products can lead to body acne, so by cleaning your body afterwards, you ensure that no residue is left on your skin.

Thank you! I used to follow that method, but since going on Accutane, I’m thankfully free from acne. I always make sure to rinse off any excess conditioner thoroughly with a handheld shower head. My hair is very dry, so I need to leave the conditioner in for a while, and I get bored easily :joy:

I wash my face in the morning and evening at the sink after brushing my teeth; I find it much easier than doing it in the shower.

Why have I never thought of using a claw clip in the shower?! THANK YOU for this!!

Once a week:

• wash with African black soap - helps before shaving and also helps with clogged pores. I don’t get body acne but I will occasionally get little white heads and it helps prevent those

• shampoo with a shampoo bar - self explanatory

• shampoo with hard water shampoo - out of everything I’ve done in all my years, nothing has helped my hair the way getting a shampoo that correlates to my water type has. game changer. I use ION’s.

• put in deep conditioning treatment - hard water shampoo can be rough on your hair if you use it often and don’t deep condition. I only wash my hair once a week, so I use the deep conditioner every time. I also use ION’s for this.

• shave with Billie razor - I’m an everything shaver, all year round, so I need a solid razor. the fact that the heads come in the mail is a big bonus for convenience. I did get some laser on my calves and a full treatment on my underarms, so shaving isn’t that huge of a task.

• rinse out deep conditioning treatment

• wash with a moisturizing body wash or in-shower body lotion. in the summer I use Olay’s moisturizing body wash and in the winter I use their in-shower body lotion. depends how dry my skin is, but the African black soap definitely dries you out.

I don’t wash my face in the shower because I take hot ass showers and I would burn my face skin off. I will put moisturizer on when I get out of the shower. I currently use Palmer’s Cocoa Butter lotion when I get out of the shower because I’m eight months pregnant. Whether I put lotion on normally when I get out of the shower is hit or miss - I’m usually pretty damn lazy once I get out

This might sound like a silly question, but is a hair mask different from a deep conditioner? I need more moisture for my hair and use a mask occasionally, but I’m wondering if a deep conditioner would be better. Also, if you don’t mind sharing, which one do you use?

So, I have a weekly, monthly, and seasonal “everything shower” routine:

Every 3 Days:

  • Soap
  • Hydrating body wash
  • Body milk

(I wash my hair 1-3 times a week)

  • Shampoo
  • Leave-in conditioner
  • Hair cream (daily once hair is dry)

Weekly:

  • Cleanse with turmeric soap and camel milk soap
  • Scented body wash (Cherries and Cheers from The Body Shop)
  • After cleansing, use a creamy shower gel and body milk for moisture

Hair:

  • Oiling (using a mix of argan oil, castor oil, and saffron serum)
  • Shampoo
  • Leave-in conditioner
  • Hair cream (daily once hair is dry)

Monthly:

  • Deep exfoliation with a homemade scrub
  • Deep body cleanse with Turkish wash gel soap (from tree bark)
  • Turmeric soap and camel milk soap
  • Normal body wash
  • Scented body wash
  • Body milk
  • Body butter (once dry, scented)

Hair:

  • Deep oiling (using a homemade oil mix)
  • Shampoo
  • Hair mask
  • Leave-in conditioner
  • Hair cream (once hair is dry)

Seasonal:

  • Moroccan hammam routine (I do this less frequently due to the need to save up for ingredients, which I buy from back home and mix myself)
  • After the hammam, use body wash and body milk
  • Body butter (once dry)

Hair:

  • Retoning hair if needed (the day before)
  • Detoxing hair (using a homemade detox mask)
  • Shampoo
  • Leave-in conditioner
  • Hair mask
  • Hair gloss (also homemade)
  • Hair cream (once hair is dry)

I usually wax myself and oil my body, but that’s not included in the “everything shower” routine. After completing everything, I do my skincare. I try to make as much as possible myself and use products from back home, only buying a few items from the store. Most ingredients, like oils and Moroccan hammam supplies, come directly from farmers there, and I make my own products.

Keen to hear more about your Moroccan Hamman routine and what you use please?? :two_hearts::two_hearts::raised_hands:t4:

I usually have two types of “everything” showers:

  1. Deep Hair Wash Day: This involves shampoo, conditioner, a hair mask, and Jojoba Oil, rather than just using conditioner or skipping hair washing on regular shower days.

  2. Exfoliating and Shaving Day: I use an exfoliating glove and a body wash scrub (like Caress Shea & Brown Sugar, SoftSoap Coconut Butter, or OGX Coffee). After exfoliating, I shave my legs and any other areas that need tidying up.

Once the main parts of the shower are done, I use body soaps such as Dove, St. Ives, or Aveeno, and finish by washing my face with a Cerave cleanser.

After each shower, I moisturize my whole body. Recently, I’ve found that Dr. Teal’s body lotions are just right for the warmer weather.

  • Wash face with salicylic acid face wash and an exfoliating mitt (I use four gloves: one for the face, one for sensitive areas, and two for the body).
  • Shampoo hair with clarifying shampoo.
  • Rinse out clarifying shampoo.
  • Shampoo hair again with regular shampoo.
  • Wash face.
  • Rinse out regular shampoo.
  • Apply hair mask and clip hair up with a claw clip.
  • Use salicylic acid body wash on exfoliating mitts for neck, chest, arms, armpits, stomach, back, and legs.
  • Repeat with a body scrub.
  • Clean vulva with a gentle cleanser and exfoliation mitt, ensuring it’s a separate glove from the face and body ones.
  • Rinse out hair mask.
  • Apply scented body wash (like Bath and Body Works or Lush) all over.
  • Apply conditioner to mids and ends, then clip hair up in a claw clip.
  • Apply shaving cream/oil or conditioner to armpits, shave.
  • Apply shaving cream/oil to vulva, shave.
  • Apply shaving cream/oil or conditioner to legs, shave.
  • Use baby shampoo on nipple piercings.
  • Rinse out conditioner.
  • Ensure proper exfoliation and shaving.
  • Dry off.
  • Apply glycolic acid on cotton pads to face, chest, private areas, and occasionally legs.
  • Moisturize.

I do an “everything shower” once a week, or if I’m seeing someone, I might skip shaving for a couple of days and focus on exfoliating and plucking ingrowns beforehand, to ensure the smoothest shave on the day of the visit.

It might be overhyped but in the winter I scientific brush my hair before my shower ( brushing scalp/dandruff) then I wash with a good scalp shampoo. Then I wash with a purple toning shampoo for my blonde and I let it sit while I shave my legs, bikini, and armpits. I’m lame and I usually shave with my hyaluronic acid face wash which also washes my body. Then I rinse and condition. Let the conditioner sit for 3 minutes. Then I put my hair up put on my 2% salicylic acid body wash sit on acne-prone areas for 3 minutes. I might exfoliate while I let it sit. Then I might follow up with exfoliating my feet and putting an after-shaving oil on my legs.

I don’t usually do all of this in 1 sitting I might break it up into two showers. And in the summer I rarely have to do my scalp treatment. I’ve been doing this for years.
