How do I properly remove mascara?

I use ELF Holy Hydration to take off the rest of my makeup, but it always smears my mascara under my eyes, leaving me looking like I got punched. No matter how hard I scrub, it just stays there for the rest of the day. Any tips?

Try using heat: I recently discovered a trick to make my eye makeup remover more effective. I soak a washcloth in fairly hot water (not hot enough to burn, of course) and place it over my eyes, holding it in place for 30 seconds. Then, I gently wipe away the eye makeup and repeat for another 30 seconds. This method works well with less scrubbing, so my skin is less irritated. I use a cleansing oil and then double cleanse with CeraVe moisturizing cleanser, but I still had trouble until I started using the hot towel.

This is usually what I do.

To be honest, I just double cleanse with the CeraVe face wash, which technically isn’t correct (since you usually need an oil-based cleanser for double cleansing, I think?). It might just be that my mascara isn’t great, but it works for me :sob::sob:.

Personally I have a jar of coconut oil that I use specifically for taking off hard makeup! I just gently rub it on before attempting to take off my other makeup!

I use olive oil. That’s what my mom had me use. I bet most cooking oils would do the trick.
