Do you wear makeup when you’re at home? Why or why not? If you do, what products do you use?

I have quite a bit of makeup, but as a stay-at-home mom, I feel like I don’t use it often. At the same time, I want to get ready for the day and feel a bit more put together.

I feel like I’m wasting money if I apply makeup when nobody is going to see me. I only do it if I want to try a new makeup look, have online meetings, or if people are coming over. I had acne problems a few years ago, so I’ve developed a habit of letting my skin breathe whenever I can. However, I understand why some people would want to do their makeup regardless—it can make you feel more put together and can be quite therapeutic.

Yes! Makeup is my hobby, and playing with color makes me happy. I saw a video a while back that said it’s easier to get up in the morning if you have a routine you enjoy. I realized that doing my makeup while listening to a podcast made me look forward to mornings, so why wouldn’t I continue? I usually do a full face with bright eyeshadow and duochromes :sparkles:.

If I want to do it for creativity’s sake, I go for it.

On my off days, I don’t spend as much time on my makeup, but I still make sure to apply foundation. It makes me feel pretty and boosts my confidence!

I’m currently focusing on healing my skin, so I wash off my makeup as soon as I get home. Sometimes, I leave it off for days.

Since I’m a homebody and only go to the office once a week, I really look forward to the times I can wear makeup. Sometimes, I’ll put on mascara and a lip combo for a Zoom meeting or a quick errand, and just keep it on for the day. I’m working on breaking the mindset that makeup is only for when others see me; I want to use my makeup to feel beautiful for myself! Plus, I need reasons to practice and try new looks.

I never have a day where I’m just at home. I’m always either at work, the gym, or the grocery store—or sometimes all three!

I feel better when I wear makeup, but I hate the idea of ‘wasting’ it. On Fridays and Saturdays, I go for a heavier look, while for about three days a week, I wear light makeup and make sure to get outside for a walk or run errands. This way, it doesn’t feel ‘wasted’ since I usually have some social interactions. The remaining two days are makeup-free and dedicated to intensive skincare, where I load up on vitamin C, tretinoin, and other treatments.
