Body Wash vs. Bar Soap

Is there a reason why body wash doesn’t seem to clean me properly? Bars of soap work perfectly, but with body wash, I feel like my deodorant doesn’t come off completely, and I still smell sweaty. Is it just me?

I’ve noticed that problem too. Bar soap is cheaper and more eco-friendly, which are the main reasons I use it instead of body wash.

I’ve found that my shower is much easier to clean when I use bar soap too—less soap scum!

That’s interesting. I’ve always found the opposite to be true.

I’ve used bar soap for years and haven’t had acne in about 20 years. Whenever I stop using it, the acne comes back.

Bar soap is terrible if you have natural calcium or limescale in the water. It creates a horrible dry film on the skin.

It’s literally unusable for me. However, I know some areas have different levels of natural minerals in their water. If you’re in an area with low calcium, bar soap is totally fine to use. I just wanted to add this because for years I couldn’t understand why bar soap made my skin feel horrible and dry.

I use a mix of both!

Same here, lol. I use bar soap first for cleaning and then body wash for the scent.

I enjoy mixing different bars of soap and body washes to create unique fragrances each day .

Same here! I find that using an exfoliator mitt or loofah with body wash really helps to scrub away any residue. I always double wash—first to exfoliate before shaving, and then again after shaving to remove any leftover shaving oil and to feel extra clean!
